We will begin work installing puncheon in wet areas of the trail in the field adjacent to Pochuck Creek, near Vernon. Meeting location: AT parking area on Canal Road. (Driving directions are below.) - Appalachian Trail near Vernon. - The AT parking area on Canal Road. Get yourself to the center of Vernon, on Rt. 94. (We do that as follows: take Rt. 23 west approximately 15 miles from I-287. After passing ‘Canistear Road’ start watching for Rt. 515 to Vernon – this is a turnoff just before the traffic light. (Rt. 515 starts at Rt. 23). Follow Rt. 515 to the center of Vernon, where Rte. 94 joins you at the light.) Once in Vernon, continue north on the co-aligned 515 & 94 for about 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Maple Grange Road. Follow Maple Grange Road approximately 1mile. Canal Road (a very narrow dead-end road) will be on the right (across the road from a day-care center.) Follow Canal Road to the parking lot at the end.    For all work trips, bring your lunch, plenty of water, gloves and sturdy work shoes, and be prepared to get dirty. All tools, materials and training will be provided. Beginners are welcomed on all work trips. All events begin at 9:00am. Please phone/email the leaders for meeting location and driving directions. There is usually a walk to the work site, so please be there on time (call the leaders’ cell phone if you are coming to an event and are running late). Rain cancels – if in doubt, call the leaders between 6:00 and 6:30 that morning. Carpooling: if anyone is interested in carpooling (offering a ride or riding), please let the leaders know and we will try to arrange a shared ride. (Passengers please be prepared to contribute for gas.)
