Ninham Mountain Multiple Use Area (Nimham Mountain State Forest)
Directions
In Putnam county 7 miles east of Fahnestock State Park. From the Taconic north, exit east on Peekskill Hollow Rd. to NY 301. Turn right on NY 301 aprx. 3.5 miles to a left on Gypsy Trail Road. There will be a sign and parking area on the right at 2 miles. Just beyond this point, Ninham Mountain Road turns off to the left, which also has limited parking.

Attractive trails and views from the top of Ninham Mountain draw hikers and mountain bikers alike.
Trail Overview
The Ninham Mountain summit may be its focal point, but this park has 10 miles of trails for hikers to explore.
One special feature: Nimham Mountain has two routes in the Motorized Access Program for People With Disabilities (MAPPWD). The 1.16-mile Rinaldi East Trail and the 0.79-mile Rinaldi West Trail are both open for ATV use by people with disabilities and an MAPPWD permit to allow for wildlife viewing.

Park Description
Nimham Mountain Multiple Use Area is named after Chief Daniel Nimham of the Wappingers tribe.
This property is very popular with bikers, hikers and horseback riders and has an extensive network of blazed trails and old roads. Snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are allowed within the property, but there are no designated trails or maintained areas for these activities.
This Multiple Use Area is also heavily used by hunters in season.
Forest cover is mainly mixed hardwoods with some conifer plantations.
