On Monday, more than 50 wildland firefighters from state and federal agencies, including hand crews and air support, were battling a blaze on Mount Tammany in Worthington State Forest and Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. As of late Tuesday morning, the fire had burned approximately 80 acres and was approximately 95% contained, reports the National Park Service. The Mount Tammany (Red Dot) Trail and Pahaquarry (Blue Dot) Trail remained closed at that time. With rain in the forecast, NPS says the trails may reopen soon. |
