From the parking area, cross Skyline Drive. You will see a triple purple-on-white blaze on a tree, which marks the start of the Tamarack Loop. Nice walk for a cold March morning....
Description is spot on and the trails are clearly marked. I lost the Yellow trail a bit near the radio tower (followed some old painted blazes) but knew that the trail would be coming in from the west to get to Matapan Rock...…...1) The west end of the Green Trail is getting overgrown with barberry and needs some maintenance...….2) The last mile of the route parallels Skyline Drive, sometimes quite close. Lots of road noise.

Turn onto Hoeferlin Memorial Trail

You are correct in stating that if you head west on the Green Trail and just want to continue on the hike, you would turn left onto the Hoeferlin Memorial Trail to head south. However, the viewpoint that is described is immediately west of this trail junction. To reach the viewpoint from the Green Trail, you cross the Hoeferlin Memorial Trail, and when you want to continue on the hike by heading south on the Hoeferlin Memorial Trail, you would turn right onto that trail.

Small error

I believe the guide should specify turning left from the Green Trail onto the Hoeferlin Memorial Trail, to head south.
